Here at Toffee Tigers we aim to create a range of fun, practical clothing and costumes for children, especially children who have extra sensitivity when it comes to dressing.
These sensory processing issues include sensitivity to rough seams, tags, labels and specific fabrics. These issues can also extend to having a favourite item which once worn out may be tricky to replace.
These issues are common among children on the autistic spectrum, those with ADHD, Sensory Integration Disorder and can also affect children with skin conditions such as eczema.
HOW WE GOT HERE:
After years of battling with my 3 autistic children over clothes, I decided to take matters into my own hands and handmake a range of clothing with their specific needs in mind. My life became so much easier after deciding to make a replacement pair of favourite pyjama trousers for my son rather than trying to track a similar pair down in the shops. Dressing up and Halloween have become fun, my children choose what costumes they would like and I make them in washable soft fabric, not that nasty stuff you can buy in the shops which makes them cry, and can’t be put in the washing machine. I have not only had great success with my own children, but during the process, discovered many other parents and carers have the same problems. This has motivated me to share my clothing range, in the hope of taking the stressing out of dressing for everyone.
Life is hard enough without the extra stress caused by sensory issues. My aim is to help to make one aspect of life easier by custom making suitable clothing at a reasonable cost. If you have any specific requirements or would like to ask any questions please fill in the following contact form and I will get back in touch with you. Thanks.
