Jason Wilson (formerly Wilcock) is a British record producer / engineer / mixer / studio owner, currently based in London, England.

Jason Wilson is primarily recognised for his work in rock music, although he has worked in a variety of genres (indie, folk, jazz, pop and classical) and is keen to engage in many kinds of projects.

Jason has worked with a number of great bands and artists, including FightstarReuben, As it is, Blitz Kids, You Me At SixWe Are The OceanDinosaur Pile-up, The Autumn Ravine, Bellevue Days, Don Broco, Senser, The Ghost Of A Thousand, Reachback, Cars on Fire, BlakfishCharlie Simpson, The Stanley Blacks, Fishermans Friends, Bellowhead, Winterfalle and Tellison.

He is also known for his work mixing and recording music to picture for TV and film including the documentary film  9/11 A Firemans Story.

Jason’s musical background began in 1998, playing drums for rock band Angel, which was later renamed Reuben. He left Reuben in 2000 (age 18), and continued to study, with a desire to move towards music production.  Inspired by his recording sessions playing drums for Reuben, and spurred on by the initial success of the demos created in his parents’ shed, Jason was keen to get started producing music full time. With a modest collection of equipment, Jason founded Stakeout Studios, initially based in a tractor garage on a chicken farm in Chobham, Surrey.

After recording several demos, Jason built up a solid reputation for great sound with various artists.

In 2003 (age 21) he recorded Reuben’s debut album ‘Racecar is Racecar Backwards’ which was released to critical acclaim.

In 2004, Stakeout Studios relocated to large premises on Platts EyotHampton, London.  In the decade since, he has continued to expand the studio’s capability and his own experience both at Stakeout and internationally.  Jason has worked in other studios – Karma Sound, Thailand (primarily for jazz) and various studios around Europe for his orchestral work.

As well as producing music, Jason plays multiple instruments – drums, bass, guitar, piano and cello.

Accolades include having his name credited on two gold records, a top 10 album (UK), and recording a 60 piece orchestra with two opera singers.

Jason has been credited with mentoring and helping to kick start the careers of several young bands.

Due to Jason’s natural perfectionist tendencies and the pride he takes in his work, he brings out the best in those he works with, and his productions are often complimented in the press for their lush textures and powerful sounds.
