After many months of preparation and production, Central & East London Breast Screening Service have released A film about breast screening. The film is designed to reach an extremely diverse audience, addressing many of the concerns surrounding breast screening and building a strong case for women aged 50-70 to attend their screening appointments. The film fronts CELBSS’s new website and you can watch it here: http://www.celbreastscreening.org.uk/
As part of my work at the Coexistence Trust I’ve produced a range of simple ‘elevator speech’ animations that explain what the Trust does in short 60 second clips. These will be used as part of our 2011 online presence and will be built into the recently revamped CT Social Media campaign.
I just got an email through confirming that I Am Britain has been shortlisted for Best Documentary at this year’s Limelight Awards. It’s the third time one of my films has
been up for a Limelight award so let’s hope it’s third time lucky in June!

Bold Creative went to the BAFTAs this week and won the ‘Best Short Form’ award for our animated series See Something Say Something! The series consisted of 4 real life stories and I was responsible for directing the stories for half the series. I’m particularly proud of Marcus’ Story, a moving account of bullying from the perspective of a real life bully.

We went to the We The Peoples film festival in London this week, where Hoodforts won two awards, bringing its tally to six in total, including; two Limelight awards, the Adobe Youth Voices award for documentary, an international Adobe Aspire Award and the We The Peoples Understanding Award and Audience Prize. we are still in shock at the success of the project and it was a real pleasure working with the MCP team and helping create this film which, I think, can be read as a positive and mature reaction to last summer’s riots. I’ve spent the last few months producing my first broadcast commercials for Action on Hearing Loss (formerly RNID). These have included an 30 second TV Spot and a series of 5-10 second stings for cinema exhibition. Surprisingly, the biggest challenge has been working with the relevant regulatory bodies to clear the commercials for broadcast: an all new and complex world! You can watch the Loud Music cinema sting above.

I’ve just completed a series of thirteen short films for Prostate Cancer UK, profiling the experiences of men affected by the disease. Produced for newly diagnosed men and their families, the films feature frank and open discussions about treatment options, physical and psychosexual side effects as well as encouragement and advice about living with, fighting and beating prostate cancer. The finished films will be distributed online and through a series of DVDs.
