Iain Pate is a curator, producer and manager of arts projects.
Iain currently works at Science Museum as Associate Curator, Media Space, a gallery whose programme explores the relationship between photography, science, art and technology.
In 2014 Iain was Art Curator for Information Age, an object-rich gallery at Science Museum that explores a history of information and communications technology. Iain led on the commissioning of Fiducial Voice Beacons, the first permanent work by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer in the United Kingdom.
Iain works as a freelance producer with Serpentine Galleries, supporting the public programme team to deliver the Park Nights events series and the annual Curatorial Marathon.
In 2012 Iain was a Producer for AV Festival managing commissioned arts projects across north-east England. From 2005 to 2011 he was Programme Manager with Forma Arts and Media, one of Europe’s leading production agencies for high quality, interdisciplinary contemporary art. He has co-curated exhibitions at NGBK, Berlin and Berwick Film and Media Arts Festival. He previously worked at Dundee Contemporary Arts, and has worked freelance with galleries such as Esther Schipper, Berlin and La Panaderia, Mexico City.
In 2009 Iain established Modern Empire, working with emerging and established artists to produce limited edition prints and fostering investment in artists’ works on paper.
