About Caroline Graham
My name is Caroline Graham and I have been passionate about dance from a very young age. I began taking dance classes at the age of two and a half and gained so much pleasure from these classes that as I grew up began attending classes most evenings and weekends.
My passion lay within teaching dance as I wanted to give others the same opportunity to enjoy dance that I had been given.
From the age of 13, I assisted my dance teacher Carole Lloyd with the younger students and by age 16 was helping teach these classes. At the age of 18, I auditioned and was accepted by Merseyside Dance and Drama Centre, a college renowned for its teacher training excellence.
During my three years of full time professional dance training, I passed all my Advanced level dance exams and performed in many shows with some top choreographers. I left college with Level 3 teaching qualifications in ISTD Ballet, Tap and Modern plus a Musical Theatre Diploma.
Since leaving college I have gained my ISTD Diploma in Dance Education (Level 4) and regularly attend refresher courses to keep up to date with syllabus content and current safe dance practice.
During my 21 year teaching career as well as showing students the enjoyment and benefits of dance, I have helped many follow their dream into a vocational dance college.
These students have since gone on to either perform professionally or open their own successful dance schools.
I’m sure I’m more nervous on exam day than the children are as I love them to achieve the marks they work so hard for and deserve. In return for their hard work, the children continue to receive excellent exam results with a 100% pass rate.
Since becoming a Mum, I have been able to appreciate even more, the excellent learning opportunities that there are within the dance environment for young children. The Melody Movement Dance syllabus captures this perfectly. Through this, my son has learnt to count and associate certain movements to particular music well before his second birthday, becoming obsessed with singing ‘What’s the time Melody Bear?’
Caroline Graham holds current insurance, Emergency Paediatric First Aid certificate and Enhanced CRB.
